The development of a new Administration building and some minor refurbishment of some classrooms was the brief given to a local Sale building contractor. It included the demolition of the existing Admin block and several penetrations into existing buildings. As required under current legislation a comprehensive inspection for Hazardous Building Materials was undertaken by Premier Safety and Environmental. Once these materials were located, a local asbestos removalist was contracted to remove some asbestos eaves.

“We not only provided the para occupational air monitoring during the asbestos removal, but also project managed the process on behalf of the building contractor, ensuring that it was completed in line with all legal requirements”.

Prior to any construction activity, Premier Safety and Environmental developed the contractors site OH&S documentation and management system. This included a site specific OH&S induction that every person must complete prior to commencing any work, a Health & Safety Co-ordination plan for the works, and is providing ongoing support to the contractor as their OHS Manager. This includes regular site visits, conducting toolbox meetings, investigation of any accidents, incidents or near misses if they occur.
